AIGA
Whether measured by gross sales dollar volume or as a crucial link in the distribution chain, the independent general agents who support the in-dealership finance and insurance processes, as a group, are one of the among the largest economic factions not be represented by a professional association. The Association of Independent General Agents (AIGA) was formed to rectify this situation.
AIGA provides a suite of member benefits from group health insurance coverage to agent/vendor agreement vetting services. AFIP gives the agents the power to speak with a unified voice when addressing intra- and inter-industry issues. Membership is available at two levels. Agents and subagents join as voting members and serve as officers and directors. The captive and institutional lenders and aftermarket vendors serve as active participants in AIGA affairs, but cannot vote on association policy issues. Both groups pay annual dues.
AIGA has been enthusiastically accepted at the agent and vendor levels. While much work remains to be done, the organization is off to a successful and fast start.
